VFW Award winners

Three Notre Dame students were honored for their outstanding essays in the 2024-25 VFW Patriot's Pen writing contest. Open to students in grades 6 through, the contest challenged participants to write a 300- to 400-word essay responding to the prompt "My Voice in American Democracy." The winners were celebrated at an award ceremony hosted by the VFW Post 1555.

Lauren Loomba, an 8th grader, earned 1st place and a $350 prize, and Alicia Townzen, a 7th grader, secured 2nd place, receiving a $200 cash award. Jessica Sandhagen, a 6th grader, placed 3ed and was awarded $130. Additionally, Lauren Loomba advanced to the district-level competition.

The Notre Dame community is proud of these talented junior high students for their achievements and contributions to the competition.
